About These Resources

Learn about the Williams Treaty First Nations in this Indigenous authored and beautifully presented set of books with accompanying Teacher’s Guide.

Suitable for use with students from Grade 3 -8, these full colour books for each community share the history, geography, culture and heritage of each of the 6 communities which make up the Ogemawahj Tribal Council and the Williams Treaty communities.

Formatted in an easily accessible style, each book includes a timeline of the history of the Williams Treaty, vocabulary notes for new words or concepts, maps and reference materials for deeper study in the appendix. The design of these texts allows for use by a range of learners with varying reading levels.

Accompanying the 6 community texts is a collaboratively developed Leaders Guide linked to curriculum for grades 3,5 and 7 with fully developed lesson plans and resources, including black line masters, further reading resource lists and assessment templates for easy use. Lessons are designed to meet objectives in the Ontario Language, Social Studies, History & Geography curricula along with suggestions for differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.

Please note that these titles are sold as sets to include all Williams Treaty First Nation communities in what is now south-central Ontario, and to help learners understand the links between these communities since time immemorial.

Ogemawahj Tribal Council is proud to share this resource with our partners in education/allies throughout the province. These sets are priced just above cost - funds raised from the sale of these resource sets contribute to funding for Anishinaabemowin language retention and promotion in each of the 6 communities.
