OTC Partners with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada to Host Three Education Information Sessions

OTC Partners with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada to Host Three Education Information Sessions

Posted on Oct 28, 2016

In early October, OTC partnered with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada to host three Education Information Sessions for First Nations across the province. Approximately 200 people attended! The three sessions held in Brantford, Thunder Bay and Sudbury were intended to provide First Nation Education Departments with general program, policy updates and Regional program information. Hands-on assistance was provided by INAC staff on the Education Information System (EIS) Portal and on Reporting Data Collection Instruments (DCIs) required for:

  • First Nation Inuit Youth Employment Strategy (YES)
  • Nominal Roll
  • First Nation Student Success Program (FNSSP)
  • New Paths (NP
  • Post Secondary Education (PSE)
  • Special Education Programs (SEP)

OTC staff put a planning team together and handled the logistics of the sessions superbly! It also gave us the opportunity to meet people from other communities as well as to put faces to the names of INAC staff.
“The information will be very helpful for me in my role as Education Manager. Looking forward to future sessions.”
Hopefully, the sessions were helpful to all and we look forward to connecting in other Education forums. For further follow-up information, contact OTC Education Advisor Alayne Bigwin.
