North American Indigenous Games

Posted on Jul 21, 2017

Hi All,

As we all know, the North American Indigenous Games is happening down in Toronto this week. Been seeing a lot of coverage on social media, it lights up my heart to see our youth out there doing what they love. As many of you know my son is interning with the Aboriginal Sports and Wellness Council of Ontario, and they are heavily involved in the games this week. He’s been down there for the past week.
Little did I know they did a little coverage on him and his career path toward Sport Management under their #Team88 campaign to inspire positive futures through sport, culture and reconciliation.
Team 88
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Calls to Action #88 calls on all levels of government to take action to ensure long-term Indigenous athlete development and growth through continued support of the North American Indigenous Games. In order to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation, the TRC Calls to Actions call on all Canadians to take part in recognizing the past while building a brighter future for our future generations.

A bit of a proud momma moment here.
Be sure to check out some of the other stories as well. It’s amazing to know all these young athletes are down there showcasing their talent.
