Casino Rama Resort
The Casino Rama Resort is the centrepiece of our economic
development. Besides the casino, the Resort has several
restaurants, a 5000-seat Entertainment Centre, shops, and a
hotel with 300 rooms. People come here to play in the casino,
eat in the restaurants, and see shows in the Entertainment
Centre. In addition, the resort hosts conferences and
private events.
Since the casino opened, it has earned almost 9 billion dollars.
In addition, the resort provides jobs by employing almost
2500 people.
It is estimated that Casino Rama averages 11 000 visitors per day,
with a total of over 4 million people coming to the Resort every
year. These visitors often go to other businesses in the area,
which helps those businesses grow. As Chief Rodney Noganosh
said, “In the early days, no one imagined the success the Casino
Rama would become.”
Money that comes in from Casino Rama is used to support
important charities and services in the area. Local organizations
that have benefited include the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial
Hospital; the Seniors’ Complex; the Health Clinic; social services;
police, fire, and EMS services; and schools.
