Chippewas of Rama First Nation’s most important resource is its
people. We have been very successful over the years in adapting
to changes in our community and growing with them. Casino
Rama Resort, which includes a casino, hotel, and Entertainment
Centre, is an example of this flexibility. Since the casino opened
in 1996, there has been a shift away from the manufacturing-
based economy of the 1970s, toward an economy that focuses
on tourism.

The spirit of entrepreneurship is strong in Chippewas of Rama WORDS TO KNOW

• Biindagen Gift Shop and The Gathering Place are gift shops
in the Casino Rama Resort.

• Rama Moccasin and Smoke has been owner-operated for
many years and markets local handmade products.
