We hold gatherings throughout the year; some celebrate
Indigenous events, while others celebrate arts or crafts. We
often host community feasts for the special occasions that are
customary across Canada, like Halloween fun. We also host
Christian holiday events like Christmas celebrations.
In 1996, the former Governor General of Canada announced that
June 21 would be known as National Aboriginal Day, now known
as National Indigenous Peoples Day. All Canadians are invited
WORDS TO KNOW
to recognize the diverse cultures and outstanding contributions
of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. This day of solidarity is for solidarity: unity, especially
among individuals with a
all Indigenous peoples across Canada, and is celebrated by common interest
members of our community every year.
