Elementary, Secondary, and Post-Secondary
All of our students attend school off-territory. They attend
MacTier Public School from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
They then go to Parry Sound Intermediate and High School
from Grades 9 to 12. Anishinaabemowin classes are offered in
elementary school and high school. Some of our members have
gone on to post-secondary education in fields as diverse as
cartography and early childhood education.
The length of the school day for our students is an issue,
especially for our younger students who travel a half hour each
way on the bus. A further concern for older students is the
loss of after-school activities, since there is no transportation
for students after the bus leaves town. Those students whose

parents are available to pick them up are able to join the

activities, but many students are unable to do so.

Adult Education
From time to time, our community offers adult members the
opportunity to upgrade their education right in the community.
To assist individuals who want to attend upgrading and have
children, childcare is available.
