5. Students should read the scenarios and/or issues on the
gameboard template. Then, they should find the classmate/
portfolio holder who is responsible for dealing with the issues and/
or problems listed on the gameboard.
6. Students should record the name of the portfolio, as well as their
classmate’s name, to ensure that they are including and discussing
issues with different members of the class. Ask:
– When you locate the communities that are the most common
tourism destinations for Canadians on a map, do you notice
any patterns?
– Which levels of government should address the issue of the
increase in visitors and cultural events in Rama?
Post-Game Activities
1. Direct students to the Rama First Nation website—specifically the
sections that explain the different departments (which coincide
with portfolios) and their roles within Rama; see the weblinks list
for link. Have students refer back to the portfolio card they were
given during the game. Students should use the Rama website to
research information about their portfolio to create a mini poster
that illustrates the roles and responsibilities of each department—
thus, each member of Chief and Council. Do a gallery walk to
extend students’ understanding.

3. Have students identify an issue and/or social problem within
their community that is of interest to them. Students should
also identify the levels of government that would be involved in
addressing their issue. Ask students to write a persuasive letter
