Cross-Curricular Ideas
Health and Physical Education: Use some of the dance videos for
movement breaks or Daily Physical Activity.
The Arts: Demonstrate an awareness of artistic traditions that can be
found in dance, music, and powwow (e.g., regalia).
Science and Technology: Indigenous people use plants for many
medicines, some of which (tobacco (Semaa) ties) can be found
at powwows.
Mathematics: Patterns in dance steps, patterns in drumbeats, patterns
and geometry on regalia designs
