Our car ferry has some capacity to break ice, but once the ice is more than
15 centimetres thick, the car ferry stops running and we use airboats to
travel across the lake. We call them scoots. A scoot looks like a boat, but it
has a propeller instead of an outboard motor.
When the lake is frozen solid, an ice road is cleared on the lake and we
travel to and from town by driving over the ice by snowmobile, all-terrain
vehicle, or car.
This snowplow is used to clear the road when the ice is thick.
