Elementary
From Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, the majority of our
students attend Roseneath Centennial Public School, which is
in a neighbouring town and part of the Kawartha Pine Ridge
District School Board.
In addition to the school subjects learned by students
throughout Ontario, the oral history of our people, the
teachings of the Elders, and a growing knowledge of our
language, Anishinaabemowin, are all important parts of our
children’s education.
Busing is provided by Alderville First Nation for students who
attend Northumberland Christian School or other elementary
schools in Cobourg.
Secondary
Our students attend high school at either Cobourg Collegiate
Institute or St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School. These schools
are in Cobourg, which is 29 kilometres from Alderville.
Post-Secondary
The majority of our high school graduates continue on to college
or university. The post-secondary program provides educational
assistance to these students and is managed by Alderville
First Nation. The Alderville Education Committee makes
funding decisions.
We are fortunate because Trent University and Sir Sanford
Fleming College are both located in Peterborough, Ontario,
which is about a 45-minute drive from Alderville.
