Recreation
We place a lot of value in helping our youth participate in
recreational programs. Our youth participate in a variety of
physical activities such as sports, as well as arts activities such as
music.
At the Community Centre, they take music and martial arts
lessons. They can also skateboard at the Community Centre in
the parking area in front of the Child Care Centre.
There are activities in our community for every season. In
the winter, our children can go on sleigh rides or ice skate
at community arenas in Warkworth and Baltimore. When ice
conditions are good, they can also skate on Rice Lake. Some of
our youth play hockey and participate in the annual Little Native
Hockey League (Little NHL) tournament.
In the spring and summer, they play baseball, soccer, or
lacrosse in organized team sports. In the summer, they have
fun boating and canoeing. They also swim at Rice Lake or at the
community pool.
In autumn, when they are old enough, some of the youth go
duck or deer hunting with older family members. They also learn
to safely ride ATVs and snowmobiles.
