Harvesting Rights
It is very important to us to protect our right and tradition of
harvesting from the land, including hunting and fishing. These
activities allow us to continue to pass on knowledge about
the world and the beings around us through generations. We
hunt game for food and to share within the community or for
ceremonial purposes. We also harvest fish for food and some
plants for food and simple remedies.
Recently, we ran a program pairing our youth with our
experienced hunters and community members. All the
participants enjoyed the experience, and especially the time
spent together teaching and learning skills that we have shared
for generations. We look forward to more of these kinds of
community events!
