Land Use
Most of the land in Rama is used either for housing or business
purposes. With the opening of Casino Rama in 1996, our largely
rural village setting has seen tremendous growth and change,
including in how land is used. This casino attracts tourists to the
area and creates the opportunity for Rama First Nation to build
businesses to support them. Businesses such as coffee shops,
restaurants, hotels, retail shops, and an expanded marina have
created jobs and business opportunities for our community and
other First Nations in Ontario. Family attractions such as the
Black River Wilderness Park and Hubs Rock Memorial Trail and
Gardens also create opportunities.
